"I experienced the Value Investor Conference as being with family more
closely related in thought and mind as in any other social gathering
that I can recall in my lifetime. This includes political and religious
gatherings, which, in their very nature enhance a sense of camaraderie."
Joppie Graham

"Having so many like-minded people gathered together tends to
turn a business trip into a vacation of sorts. So, I am looking
forward to future meetings like this.”

Investor conference
David Sokol had been a headliner for the Value Investor Conference on April 28-29 in Omaha, but his resignation from Berkshire last month led him to withdraw from the conference, too.
Author and Berkshire-watcher Robert Miles, who organizes the $1,095-a-seat conference, added Robert Cialdini to the speakers' lineup. Cialdini is author of “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion” and will talk about influence during times of uncertainty.
Other speakers include Bill Child, chairman of the R.C. Willey Home Furnishings division of Berkshire. So far 160 people have signed up, with 30 more seats available.
The conference, to be held at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's College of Business Administration, is not affiliated with Berkshire, which will hold its annual shareholders meeting April 30 at the Qwest Center Omaha.

Books and free ice cream: what’s not to like?
OMAHA – Like Warren Buffett himself, Berkshire Hathaway shareholders tend to be voracious readers with a weakness for ice cream. On the night before the company’s annual meeting, they’ll be able to indulge both passions at a reception featuring free Dairy Queen Dilly Bars and more than 20 authors of books related to Berkshire, Buffett and/or investing.
The reception will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, April 29 in Mammel Hall, at the corner of Pine and 67th Street on the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus. This is a new location for the popular event, which has outgrown its traditional home at a local Dairy Queen store. No reservations are necessary but annual meeting credentials will be required for the free ice cream.

"A very valuable learning seminar focused on the investment process.
I prefer this format to other conferences that just pitch stock
